Today was a good reason to be living in Miami. After a long two hour practice session this morning, I headed out on a great afternoon bicycle ride (a favorite hobby) to Key Biscayne. The temperature was in the mid to upper 60′s, and the sky was a flawless blue dome. The waters in Biscayne bay sparkled in the brilliant sun, as sailboats danced in the distance. The air had a cool freshness to it, and I soaked it all in like a sponge.
I have been so busy lately that it has been impossible for me to get out and enjoy some of my favorite activities, but I know I can’t maintain that pace. To me, keeping a balance in life is extremely important. I feel that my music making is enhanced by really getting out and living life. Of course, if I don’t spend enough time on my music, then ultimately it will suffer, but if I am able to strike a good balance, everything benefits. Today I practiced for 3 hours, and rode my bicycle for an hour and a half. There is no way to make that happen every day, but it is awfully nice when I can.
All told, it was a one heck of a January day, and it felt great to be able to get out and enjoy it.
