You know when you have a good friend that you don’t talk to for a while? A friend that you know you want to talk to, but the time doesn’t ever seem quite right? You said you would call, but then days turn to weeks and weeks turn to months and you have done nothing. Then after a while it starts to feel awkward. You don’t know what you are going to say to explain yourself, and eventually your fear of being unable to justify your actions turns into a continued non-action. As time continues your ability to speak from the bright side of the moral spectrum diminishes and the likelihood of you looking like village idiot gets greater by the day. At this point you can do two things: you can decide that you just aren’t going to continue with the friendship, or you can swallow hard and dig around in your feeble little mind for the least whiny explanation you can think of.
For me, this website has been that friend, and I am sitting here at 5am (thanks to the arrival of a new baby in March) choosing to do the latter. I have been digging fruitlessly around in my mind for how to explain why I haven’t written any articles or blog posts. But the truth is, there is no simple explanation, so I’m not going to try. I will simply start writing and see if by some miracle I don’t look like the village idiot. Here goes…
